Luis Wine Bar opened its doors in March, 2012. It was created by Vanessa North, a Cal Poly Industrial Engineering alumni who decided to leave the high tech corporate world and return to San Luis Obispo to start her own venture. Vanessa spent the previous 5+ years living in San Francisco and designed Luis to be the ideal wine bar she and her friends would want to frequent. Her goal was to create an environment in SLO where locals and tourists alike could enjoy fine wines and beers, appetizers and spend time with friends or meet new ones in a beautiful, modern, comfortable lounge. Vanessa felt that the city of San Luis Obispo didn't have anything quite like her vision for Luis and hopes patrons will enjoy spending time at Luis as much as she does.
